What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
My deep passion for technology, especially artificial intelligence, coupled with a desire to increase inclusivity in the tech world, inspired me to write "AI… Meets… AI". Observing the increasing role of AI in our daily lives, I realized the importance of making this technology accessible and understandable to children from a young age. Additionally, I was driven by the wish to create literature where diverse children see themselves as leaders in technology, breaking down barriers and stereotypes. By merging a fun, adventurous storyline with important lessons about technology, I aim to inspire the future generation to embrace and shape the digital world.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Creating the characters for "AI… Meets… AI" was a deeply personal and thoughtful journey. I was inspired to name the main characters, Addy and Jaz, after my own nieces. I wanted to present role models who mirrored their vibrancy, curiosity, and potential. It was important for me to showcase that everyone, regardless of age, gender, or ethnicity, has a place in the world of technology.
The character Noland, who features in the new book, was named after my soon-to-be-born nephew. As an anticipated addition to our family, Noland symbolizes the joy of new beginnings and the endless possibilities that the future holds.
Jaz, the AI, presents a friendly face of technology, constantly learning and adapting, just like we do. This approachable depiction of AI was intentional, aiming to challenge the often impersonal and intimidating perceptions of AI.
