Why Did You Start a Book Blog?
It’s a fact of life that today’s publishers do very little to promote the works of their own authors. Likewise, many authors are turning to self-publishing but aren’t necessarily familiar with what it takes to start a buzz about themselves. As a voracious reader, I’ve always been intrigued by “the story behind the story”. I’ve also worked in all aspects of media, including 30+ years of interviewing individuals from all walks of life. YOU READ IT HERE FIRST was, thus, the perfect forum to bring together writers and readers and provide some really fun and free PR (and who – with the exception of the little girl in the Capital One commercials – doesn’t like “free”?). My own credits to date include 30 books, 152 stage plays, 5 optioned feature films, and squillions of articles about writing, publishing and marketing that appear in trade publications throughout the world. I’m also a professional ghostwriter and a script consultant for the film biz (which means that I stop a lot of really bad movies from coming to theaters near you).
What Kinds of Books do You Review?
We’re not interested in slasher/horror, erotica, war stories, or science fiction. Otherwise, we’re open to just about anything.
What advice would you give new book bloggers?
Be passionate about the written word! And if you do have to point out flaws, try to be constructive versus snarky.
