What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I felt compelled to highlight in book form the stories passed down to me through the years from the black women of my lineage.
Even though my book is considered realistic fiction, the story was written from true events from my great-grandmother, my grandmother, my mother passed to her daughter, and generations of trauma, abuse, and domestic violence.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
All the stories are based on true events, but the names of the women's characters have been changed.
I originally wrote this book from a screenplay I had written years ago and felt it would make a great book. It shares how long generational domestic abuse and trauma behind closed doors were prevalent but taboo to talk about to others way back in the 40s and 50s. I am sure it goes back farther than that.
