What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
My inspiration came from having been a law enforcement officer for over twenty years. During that time, I was partnered with a minority officer and dealt with racial prejudice in the ranks of the department. Later, I opened a law practice in Fort Worth and used my time there as the setting for the story.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The inspiration for Kit Hanover came from a recognition of the importance of women in law enforcement. It also arose from my experiences with racial and gender discrimination which I observed during my years in law enforcement.
