There was nothing wrong with her life; it’s just that there was nothing right with it either. Now that Audra Filigree has left her privileged little world behind, there’s no going back. With no plan or sense of self-preservation, random encounters guide her attempts to reclaim her life as she tries to stand up to her tyrant of a father and fight the anxiety of the unknown in her internal battle against the unrealised depression that has been consuming her for so long.
Targeted Age Group:: 20-35
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I've had people close to me deal with a variety of mental health struggles, and from time to time I've dealt with depression myself. The book is overly dramatized for the purpose of storytelling, but I wanted to push the message that the perfect life of material excess that many people
idealise isn't necessarily perfect for everyone and that
sometimes it takes walking away from everything to
gain a new perspective. I also hoped to help
normalize these types of mental health struggles to
help take the stigma out of them. It is my belief that
at some point in our lives, most of us struggle with
expectations.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
There are some city mouse and country mouse elements with having brought a fallen socialite and a truck driver together, again stressing the theme that true happiness comes from simple things.
