What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I wanted to do something different other than a straight-forward romance. I wanted it to go deeper than that, so I decided to concentrate more on the family aspect. What Happens In Between tells the story of identity and acceptance more than anything else. It’s about discovering things that you didn’t know about someone who you thought you knew really well and learning to cope with and trying to accept it rather than blame the person involved.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Going by the nature of the story, I knew that one had to be bitter and the other one nervous about coming forward so that was always in my mind. Therefore I created one character who seemed sure of himself and confident and the other one who was sort of more self-conscious and who secretly idolized the stronger character of the two.

From Chapter Two
Peter was pacing up and down his flat; he didn’t feel any better for what he had just learnt. He would hate him! Did he know? No of course he didn’t! He desperately wanted to confide in someone. But there was no-one, no-one he could turn to. He sat down on his bed and put his head in his hands, this was a disaster! Just when things were going so well, he could feel his heart pounding and the blood rushing through his veins. He had to tell him, he had to – but, how on earth did you break something like that?
…
‘Um…Excuse me…EXCUSE me??!!’
Peter shook his head and looked up to see Greg’s fiancée smiling at him. ‘Oh! Sorry! Hi!’
‘Hello! Peter right?’
‘Yes! I remember you, your Mr Jameston’s fiancée.’
‘Yes, and I remember you! Are you alright? You seemed in a bit of a dream.’
‘Oh no! I’m fine! I-I’ll just let him know you’re here.’
‘Thanks.’
After she had gone in, Peter just stared into the distance until he felt like crying, he watched the closed office door and put his head in his hands.
…
That evening, he drove, he drove and he drove, the adrenaline pumping through him. He literally didn’t know what to do or who to turn to. He heard his mobile ring but he continued to drive, anxious to get home. Once there, he closed the door behind him and slumped against it, his heart beating fast, he poured himself a glass of wine and struggled to keep it together.
