Erica James was born in San Franciso in 1978. She worked in the publication of various educational books for young learners until she decided to start writing her own books in 2012.
Erica says that her inspiration for taking the decision to go it alone and start creating her own books are her two young children Max and Sarah. Her aim is to produce books that will provide the perfect blend of education, entertainment, fun, immersion and plain old silliness as well as important life lessons so that her readers will both learn and develop a more humane view of the world around them.
Erica’s years of experience publishing educational books have enabled her to judge what kind of books appeal to young readers and what kind of writing and illustrations appeal to the younger reader’s mind – armed with this knowledge, Erica believes she has the know-how to deliver reading material that is highly effective in both educating children about the world around them and stimulating their sense of wonder and curiosity.
Described by “Parenting Today” magazine as a new writer to watch, “who is capable of engrossing, enchanting and educating new readers all at the same time, which is quite a task in the digital touchscreen world we live in”, Erica says she will only ever publish books that would help in the growth and development of her own children and she adds she can offer no higher mark of quality than that.
