This Depression Era historical-fiction novel blends romance, adventure, and mystery. A young widow with two small children, against her better judgment, hires an out-of-work miner with a questionable past to complete tasks left unfinished by the untimely death of her husband. The book realistically underscores the vital part family, faith, and community played in the struggles for survival during this challenging period in our nation’s history.

Written by the daughter/father writing team of Lisa Kay Hauser and Philip Dale Smith
Lisa Kay Hauser, a former school district secretary in Brodhead, Wisconsin, is a full-time writer and professional editor. She and her husband, Richard, and sixteen-year-old son, Garrett, live in Brodhead. Their grown children, Ricky and Tracie, live nearby. Tracie and her husband have five children, who manage to provide quite a distraction—and lots of “fodder” to their writer-grandmother. Lisa is lead singer for the Rock River Revival bluegrass band, and is a published and recorded song writer. With her co-author father, Philip Dale Smith, she has two published children’s picture books. Turn Back Time, her first novel, is the first of a planned trilogy, “The Stoneworth Chronicles.”
Philip Dale Smith is a professional speaker, a past winner of “The World Championship of Public Speaking,” conducted by Toastmasters International. He provides communication training programs for leadership groups and conducts seminars nationwide on the theme, “Every Kid a Winner.” These programs strengthen families and equip adults to help children reach their full potential. Dale has also spoken in schools across the nation, teaching creative writing and doing assemblies on the theme, “Freeing the Winner Within You.” He’s a children’s picture book author of six books, including two with Lisa Kay Hauser. The love of the co-authors for family can be quickly sensed by those who read Turn Back Time and their other books. Dale and Mary Jo, his wife of more than half a century, live in the thriving community of Bowling Green, Kentucky.
