What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
We have a passion for preparedness. Our goal is for our family to be self-reliant and safe regardless of the challenges that we may face. As we researched, experimented and worked to get our own preparations in order, we realized that if our neighbors are not prepared, we are not prepared.
Could we really eat our stored food while we watched our neighbors starve? We hope not. We hope we are better people than that. It is physically impossible for us to store enough resources for our entire neighborhood. Our skill sets and energy only go so far, but if everyone has basic supplies and skills to contribute we can survive almost anything life may throw our way by working together.
It took hundreds of hours of experimenting and researching to learn what works and what doesn’t. Very few people have the time and energy to devote to such a time-consuming pursuit. Yet the knowledge that we gained was incredibly valuable. We wanted to put all that information in a format that could help others as they work to prepare.
Our goal is to educate and motivate our friends to prepare in a realistic way, The Practical Prepper – A Common-Sense Guide to Preparing for Emergencies educates the reader on basic preparedness principles. Prepping is like cooking. There are thousands of ways to prepare a delicious meal. Like cooking, there is no one right way to prepare. Make safety a top priority and start making a little bit of progress toward your preparedness goals every day. Be a good neighbor and encourage others to prepare.
That is why we invested so much time and energy into this book. We are doing our best to be a good neighbor and encourage you to prepare now. You choose whether you will be part of the problem, or part of the solution.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The characters are us. Real people working hard to prepare. We make mistakes and learn from them.
