In the 20 years since she reached “retirement age” of 65, Dede Weldon Casad has started a business, served on the board of directors at four banks, written six books, traveled to Europe more than a dozen times, served as Chairman of the Board of Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University, and served on the Foundation Board of Dallas Downtown Rotary Club, the second largest in the country. After being widowed in her 60’s, she remarried at age 81 to a man 10 years her senior. In her younger years, she earned three college degrees and even ran for Congress.
