The C ENIGMA explores the premise that one man’s courage can influence the outcome of a war on evil as large and powerful as Hitler’s Nazism.
Chance—or perhaps fate—leads Matthias Adkins up to his grandfather’s attic, where he discovers a hidden picture of Admiral Wilhelm Canaris, the head of the German secret service during WWII. A few other items reveal that his grandfather has left him a set of riddles that will lead him through three time periods—1945, 1988, and 2008—on a hunt for his family’s identity and his own destiny…which turns out to be a destiny beyond his wildest dreams.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I’m author Spiros Gratsias, and have just published my first book The C ENIGMA. I have wanted to write a book for as long as I can remember but my professional career always took priority. Finally the global crisis we are experiencing plus my desire to express my thoughts overwhelmed all of the excuses and The C ENIGMA was born.
Off course our life and what is happening around us is the foundation of our expression in what ever form we choose to express it, therefore; It seems like the world once again is trying to tear itself apart… Economic crisis, wars, uncontrolled poverty and hunger, fanatical self-destruction and most importantly once again enormous public opinion control systems. Our only weapon in defending ourselves, our families and society is to have as must knowledge us possible in order to decide what we should accept and what we should challenge.
But how do we know what is true and what is a lie?
How do we protect ourselves from the 360 degrees of propaganda that bombards us daily?
There is only one weapon, KNOWLEDGE of history!
Everything that is happening today has happened in the past and unfortunately unless the majority of the global community realizes how to control the information controllers it will continue…..
I do not dare to pretend that I know who and what is pulling the strings of our collective destiny but I do know that knowing our world history is important in molding our future.
As a single individual i control my believes and have the god given power to make up my own mind about my children’s future. This was the primary motivation that drove me in writing a historical fiction. My objective was simple, make people ask why and stimulate them into investigating as single individuals the truths and the lies!
Remember that in a democracy one single vote is enough to save of destroy a society!

I am a native of Montreal, Canada, born to Greek immigrants. I moved back to Greece twenty years ago and have been living here ever since. I have a master’s degree in manufacturing technology and thirty-five years’ experience in the aerospace and consumer goods industries. As an amateur painter and dedicated student of history, I truly believe that in combination painting and history for me has been a lifetime path of discovery and the vehicle that led me to a new need of expression: writing!
