The Sea Side Strangler is on the loose in Beach Point, where fifteen-year-old Cathy Banks is spending the summer with her aunt (who happens to be mystery writer Roberta McCabe). Although thrilled to be away from her psychotic, divorcing parents, with no cell phone or internet access, Cathy is positive that her summer is going to be wretched. Just when she begins to make friends, and even finds a crush to drool over, her new friend Lauren vanishes. When a body surfaces in Beach Point Bay, Cathy is forced to face the question: has the Sea Side Strangler struck again?

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I was, in part, inspired by the summers I spend in Rhode Island each summer when I was young. I was also inspired by some of the students that I used to teach. They craved books with suspense. I wanted to write a book that they would enjoy.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
I think each of my characters has a little bit of me in them. It might be a very small part of me, or it might be an aspect of my personality that I don’t particularly like, but it is part of me nonetheless. I also draw on the world around me to create characters. An aspect of a friend or relative’s personality might make its onto the page, as might a brief encounter with a stranger. But by the time it reaches the page, it has often transformed quite a bit.
