Synopsis – Stupid Alabama
So there’s this nerdy fifth-grader named Melvin who lives in Brooklyn. He only wants what any guy in his place would want – girls and computer games, not necessarily in that order. But bullies and parents stand in the way of dreams. Somehow, after an epic day of defeat, worry, and woe, he agrees to spend the summer in stupid Alabama with his stupid biologist Uncle Petro who works for Auburn University.
On the drive, Melvin and Petro pick up a couple of burping alligators from the Bronx Zoo, mistakenly become international terrorists, and somehow survive the fartapocolypse. But the summer has only started and beyond everything from gorilla spankings to gator heists, man-eating hound dogs to midnight salamander raids, the uber-snarking Melvin tries to conquer all…and learns a few things along the way.
Burping alligators, Spanking primates, and Awkward romance. Oh, My!
Stupid Alabama – A Tale about Growing Up to Discover Not All Things are Stupid but a Lot of Them Are.

How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
It is eco-friendly as well as family friendly. I have illustrations included from the illustrator for the American Bald Eagle Foundation, Claire Floyd, of Haines, Alaska.
Though it touches upon things very funny that cross generations, the under lying message is there for kids, young adults, and adults.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Keep plugging! It is about the journey, not the end. Enjoy life! And laughing keeps you living longer.
Author Bio:
Bio-Michael P. Wines
Mike Wines, a graduate biology student at Auburn University, writes from heart and experience. He’s been a zookeeper in Memphis where he conducted his own weekly stage show titled: Living with Venomous Reptiles, and cared for Komodo Dragons and other slimy and scaly critters. In fact, he conducts a similar show at the Louise Kreher Forest Ecology Preserve near Auburn. Now Mike looks out for Alabama as he helps reintroduce the Eastern Indigo snake into the wild as well as researches ways to protect Alabama’s state amphibian, the Red Hills salamander.
My work with reptiles and nature preservation efforts with many groups as well as my drive to enjoy and write about the humorous things in life.
