Striker Jones is a two-part classic kid’s detective series that teaches kids basic economic concepts. By solving entertaining mysteries with boy detective, Striker Jones, kids will learn concepts like wants vs. needs, supply and demand, risk, and incentives. Each book can stand on its own, and I promise, no jargon — only fun!

How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
My genre is a strange crossover. Just like with any children’s fiction, my books must first be entertaining to my young readers. The educational element is important, but I first have to create a good story. Once I’ve got the narrative in place, then I add in economics. I have to be careful not to be heavy-handed and to keep it fun. It’s an interesting challenge and one that I love.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Just keep going. It can take years of effort before you words finally find the right audience. If you keep writing and keep publishing, you’ll be ready to take advantage of that moment when it finally comes!

Combining a masters degree in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago with years of working with elementary students, she created Striker Jones to bring the joy of economics to the next generation. A native Floridian, she currently lives in Daphne, Alabama, with her husband and two children.
I love writing for kids, and I love teaching economics. It seemed only natural to combine the two! For some reason, most kids don’t see economics for the first time until they are well into high school. I wanted to change that. Elementary school kids are capable of understanding and even applying basic economic concepts. They only need the challenge presented to them by forward-thinking parents and teachers!
