Investigative journalist, Dakta Kilroy is haunted by the disappearance of her best friend from high school, Maddy Montgomery. When circumstances force her to move back to her home town of Santa Monica, she decides to take the case into her own hands by launching a true crime podcast about her search for Maddy. Little does she know, someone sinister is listening in and messing with her investigation.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I used to listen to true crime podcasts to get through boring days at my office job. I had a scary thought occur to me one day that if these podcasters are looking into a case where the perpetrator is still alive and at large, they could be unwittingly putting themselves in danger if that person ever found their show. That's how the idea for ShadowCast was born.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The friendship Dakota and Maddy had while they both attended their Catholic high school was somewhat based on the close friendships I had with my friends while I attended a similar Catholic school. We were the more quiet and artsy type and many of my friends' physical and personality traits were put into Dakota and Maddy. In her adult life, I wanted Dakota to be a strong capable investigator who still had flaws and emotions. I wanted her to feel like a real person you could meet in your daily life.
