You never know where your words will take you.
When Mikaela Finn agreed to be Sam’s ‘fiancée’ for a weekend, she probably should have told him that she’s a doctor.
Sam O’Brien, aka ‘Dr. Eye Candy’, is trying to shed his playboy reputation and convince a small town hospital that he’s ready to settle down. But when his ‘fiancée’ helps deliver a baby in the middle of the meet and greet, it’s a bit of a shock. If he’d known the whole truth, he might have done things a little differently because somehow his ‘fiancée’ ends up stealing his job and his heart. Not exactly the change he wanted.
Lies and deceit – it’s a match made in heaven!
Targeted Age Group:: PG 13
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I really enjoy reading marriage of convenience stories, so I wanted to write one. I once overheard someone say, “I fear change.” I thought it’d be fun to make that a premise for the story – someone who fears change hooking up with someone who actively seeks it.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
I’m a doctor, and I’ve worked in a variety of medical settings so making the characters doctors was an easy choice. Sam is an ophthalmologist, and I knew enough of the ophthalmology lingo to make that realistic. I’ve followed prenatal patients so obstetrics was something I could definitely write about. I’ve jumped in to provide medical care at church, on a plane, on the soccer field, at a beach, in an exercise class, and I have to laugh at people’s reactions when they find out I’m a doctor! I wanted to incorporate that into the story. That’s how Mikaela ended up being an obstetrician who helps deliver a baby in a hotel foyer when she’s out on a date with Sam – and surprise – she’s a doctor too!
