If you are a fan of Stephen King’s The Shining or the classic mysteries of Agatha Christie, you won’t be able to put Penny for Your Thoughts down.
Cody must figure out how to rebuild his world after his family is brutally massacred. While this twelve year old begins his quest to find a normal life he is surrounded by a variety of people whose motives and intentions are not always what they seem.
Cody’s eerie insights are the only defense he has against the villains that seek him for their own mysterious purposes. Cody must decide who can be trusted because he won’t get a second chance.
Will Cody’s discernment guide him to safety or will his lack of experience and naiveté lead him into the hand of his enemies?
Praise for Penny For Your Thoughts and Lance Murphy:
From the first paragraph, I am not able to remove myself from the pages. This exciting thriller takes me into the mind of an eerily insightful twelve-year-old boy named Cody. The author is able to capture the spirit of each moment with a poetic grace into the story. I am eagerly waiting for the next sequel.- Michael
“Penny” is an interesting, thrilling story.- Jesus

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
The inspiration behind this book stems from a script that I wrote as a homework writing assignment in college. We had to submit a draft of a short script in my Creative Writing class. Penny For Your Thoughts is the completion of that short story. There were a few technical errors, but I received and ‘A’ for that assignment and a thumbs up from the professor:)
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The characters came out of nowhere for this short story. The main character, Cody, was developed when I was in college and naturally as time went on, his family entered the story. Because of the nature of the short story the remaining characters are not who you’d expect. I had to creatively introduce the characters in Penny to peek interest into the back story of them all.
