What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
The trouble started when I adopted two unbelievably charming calicos and fell in love! They were so furry and funny I had to let others know about them. After that I began to focus much of my creative efforts on pets in general. I created a “cat series” for a local community TV station featuring therapy cats, cat reiki, fat cats and some unusual cat sanctuaries. After that I began volunteering my photography help to local. shelters which. helped with pet adoption. Once I started a blog and Facebook page for my“stars,” Peaches and Paprika, things took off on their own. They now entertain over 13,000 followers with their colorful antics, repartee and photo cartoons on their Facebook page.
Some of the unusual holidays (cat and human) celebrated by photo-cartoons in her Celebrations series, include “Dress Up Your Pet Day,” “Faux Fur Friday,” “Meow Like a Pirate Day,” “Hug Your Cat Day,” and “Cat World Domination Day.”
Peaches and Paprika's fans are not left out of the fun. The readers and fellow cat-lovers enthusiastically participate and often join Peaches & Paprika in special parades, slideshows and other holiday events. Recent video celebrations include National Kite Flying Day, "Gurrrl Cats Beauty Pageant," “Kitty Mama” Day and" Undercover Cats." The “Meowleen” video and “Catmas” parade are annual events as is a “Kitty Memorial Day” in May, honoring those felines who have crossed the bridge.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Nonfiction: my lead characters are Peaches and Paprika, my tiger calico cat sisters, who illustrate the photo cartoons in their own voice.
