Carlo di Novi, a colorful, handsome, middle aged, bigger-than-life impresario from Rome flees his debts to hide out with a long lost nephew in New York. The nephew informs him that his wife is the most perfect wife a man could dream of except for one thing – she is an exhibitionist – loves to strip- and if he didn’t let her strip in clubs, he believes she would strip in shopping plazas or school yards.Meantime, Carlo falls madly in love with a beautiful widow who is peculiarly religious and feels that marriages should not be consummated until the souls of the couple are wed – which could take a year or more. Besides, she is guarded by men who feel no one is quite good enough for her. Carlo is determined to make his fortune in America and win the heart of the beautiful widow. How he manages this with the help of the stripper gives us a fast moving, laugh-filled adventure. The book is an adaptation from the original screenplay which will be produced next year.

I don’t think of genres when I read and I don’t write in genres. A good story is a good story and a bad story is a bore no matter what genre. Genres are for hacks or statisticians or civil servants.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Don’t aspire or perspire. Just write. Aspiring is for phonies who claim to want to do something that they end up never doing.
Author Bio:
I am presently editing my bio. It is so ridiculously long I have to break it up in six or seven books to cover my different careers. Just between us, I’m getting sick of writing about my life. My bio will come out under the title “On and On and On…” The individual volumes will have subtitles as follows – My Life (volumes 1 and 2) My Madison Avenue Years, My Theater, Radio-TV and Film Years, My Music Years, My Brilliance and Folly as Entrepreneur, and My Hilarious Sex Life. Briefly, I’ve lived in eleven cities in three countries on two continents, I’ve worked in a vast variety of fields, I haven’t killed anyone though I’ve sometimes been tempted, I had one wife, two sons, one daughter, one grandson and one illegitimate son who is now a man of the cloth and has given me Eskimo grandchildren. That should suffice until my bio books come out.
A title and a vision. I had the title for years and happened to catch Sofia Loren with Marcello Mastroianni at
a French version of the Academy Awards. As I looked at them and their glamor and character the story came to me as if mailed to me from heaven. I dashed it off as a screenplay in a matter of three or four weeks. All the major studios loved the script but didn’t agree with my casting ideas so I decided to produce it independently. I have written Dustin Hoffman with a view to having him direct the film. If he doesn’t respond I’ll direct it myself. I decided to do the book adaptation because books are really the first window in the entertainment sequence – films come next and then TV, etc.
