How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
I don’t glamorize or fantasize the conditions of people’s lives in the past. It was not nearly as clean, safe or comfortable as it is (for the most part) now. This particular book is also very sensual, so this is a world seen from the POV of a young woman who does not mind talking explicitly about sex, although, like the famous Fanny Hill, she never uses a dirty world.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
I’ll quote Nora Roberts, both wise and successful. “Put your fanny in that chair and write.” There are no short-cuts and beware! Writing can swallow your life.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Nanina came to me in dreams, at the height of my own Mozart obsession. then, she cost me a job, simply because she began to keep me up all night talking, demanding that I “write down the story”. As a novelist, I’ve never had the experience of channeling before or since, but this young woman definitely believed she’d found a sympathetic ear for a long kept secret, a secret which, during her lifetime, she’d often denied. Fellow devotees, one in spirit and one in flesh, we immolated ourselves upon our Maestro’s altar.

Juliet Waldron has lived in many US states, in the UK and the West Indies. She earned a B. A. in English, but has worked at jobs ranging from artist’s model to brokerage. Thirty years ago, after her sons left home, she dropped out of 9-5 and began to write, hoping to create a genuine time travel experience for her readers. She’s a grandmother, a cat person, and still reads plenty of non-fiction: history, women’s studies and archeology.
