What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I felt there should be a kinder, gentler version of zombies for kids instead of the typical green zombie. It seemed about time things should be told from the zombie’s point of view. I wanted the zombies to still be slightly dark, yet endearing. These zombies don’t like blood, but they love tomato juice!

How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
I looked for amusing contradictions in the zombie world to come up with a goth teenager, a nerd, a dirty little boy and a baby. I drew from my children and my niece, as well as my parenting experience, to help complete and round out the characters. I also felt it would be fun to add in Mombie and Pop as supporting characters.

Baby Zom creeps across the hallway into the room of her older brother, Kamper Moore. Kamper loves to camp. He camps in his tent in the middle of his room. He even sleeps there. Usually zombies like to keep a clean room, but not Kamper. He loves a good mess.
Kamper jumps out and tries to scare Baby Zom. You see, unlike human camping, zombie camping is where you hide from others and then try to take them by surprise. Unfortunately, Kamper has not perfected his art quite yet. Everyone knows just where to find him.
Kamper throws on his backpack and says, “Hey, Baby Zom, how about a game of Hungry, Hungry Humans?” Kamper notices that Baby Zom appears gloomy and asks, “What’s wrong?” Baby Zom clenches her empty fingers together and blurts out, “No Gargoy!” Kamper can’t believe the holes in his ears. Baby Zom has lost Gargoy!
