Marie should have run away from her abusive mother when she had the chance.
But she stayed home and cared for the terminally ill monster.
The one person that she loved but never loved her back.
Just as she thought her miserable life was never going to get better…
She met a mysterious out-of-towner.
She ignored her mother’s advice: to never speak with any man, that all men are bad.
This beautiful stranger showered her with gifts, kindness, and attention.
He gave her the sort of love that she had never experienced before in her life.
What Marie didn’t know is that this gorgeous man—a mafioso—had a reason to get close to her.
He was on a special revenge mission—and she was his target.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
This book draws inspiration from a dear friend of mine who selflessly sacrificed her career, social life, and dating prospects to care for her sick mother. It was heartbreaking to witness how, her mother, the once charming woman had been transformed into someone bitter and resentful due to her suffering. With my friend's blessing, I loosely based my book on her journey. In it, I introduced a dark, alluring, and dangerous mafia character (given her love for mafia movies) who would ultimately bring positive change to her life.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Matteo, the mafia character, sprang from my immersion in numerous mafia movies. Marie, on the other hand, drew from the kindness and selflessness of my friend, blended with additional traits inspired by romcom movies and true crime documentaries. As for Marie's mother, she was a mixture of various unpleasant individuals I've observed or encountered, including some not-so-nice folks from my hospital experience.
