“I think you have Lymphoma…”
In 2009, Jodi Sykes’ world spun out of control. With compassion and a sometimes twisted sense of humor, Jodi takes her readers on a Lymphoma journey that includes some childhood memories and snippets of sentimental vignettes. She offers candid looks into her treatment and life after the diagnosis.
Writing became a therapeutic way for her to deal with the challenges of living with cancer and she did so in a positive, up-beat manner. She began blogging. The blog turned into this book’s manuscript.
Living La Vida (Lymphoma) is a “short memoir for a large life.” Each passage begins with a quote and ends with an affirmation. It’s about taking the time to cherish the magic that life has to offer as each day unfolds. It reflects the power of the bonds of friendship and the strength of the human spirit.

What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
I say FOLLOW YOUR DREAM! If you want to write, DO IT! I have had so many others tell me that they wish they could find the time to write, blah, blah, blah…I say to set aside “Me time” somewhere in your day…if you are a mom or dad, get up a half hour earlier than the kids and put pen to paper! A “stifled” creative person will only get resentful and sulk. But, writing your truth will set you free and unleash creativity that is totally unleashed!
Also, I carry a notebook in my purse that is sectioned off – Characters, Dialogue, Settings / Scene…if I happen to be out at a restaurant and overhear some awesome dialogue, I write it down! Come across any quirky characters? Jot down a quick description of them! This way, when the time comes for you to find something “rich” for your works, you’ve got it right at hand!
