“For the love of God, cut my head off.” The last request in Uncle Silas’s will shocks everyone speechless, everyone except his favorite niece, Anna. More than death itself, the claustrophobic Silas fears a premature burial. Will her elders carry out his request? Anna is certain they will not. It’s up to her to do the right thing, even if it is a bit grisly. Armed with butcher knife and candle, Anna heads for the crypt underneath the church in the dead of night. All does not go according to Anna’s careful planning.
Step inside a dark story in the tradition of the penny dreadful, at times humorous and horrifying, but don’t close the door behind you. Someone might lock you in.

How is Writing In Your Genre Different from Others?
Last Request is a soft horror story set in Victorian England. There’s very little violence or gore. The emphasis is on psychological terror. The reader will also find some eccentric characters who add a bit of humor to the tale.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Write a lot and read a lot. And don’t stop writing.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I read a lot of Poe and he frequently visits the theme of premature burial. I’m a bit claustrophobic myself. I started with the idea of what someone might do to make absolutely certain they were not buried alive. The rest of the story developed from that last request in the will.
