Come along with Jabulani, a boy in Southern Africa, as he lives with purpose and loves with purpose. Jabulani learns how the little ways that he helps his family and friends can add up to big rewards, and that no matter how small you are, you can accomplish big things. In doing so, Jabulani shares his story across diverse cultural lines and at the same time introduces his culture from the Ndebele tribe of the Republic of South Africa to other children through this story of a week in his life.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Jabulani is a story of childhood in Africa. More than that, it's a demonstration of what faith and the Fruits of the Spirit in daily life may look like through the eyes of a child. The idea for Jabulani sprang from a desire to share, in a practical way, the Fruits of the Spirit with my own children, and do so within the context of the African culture in which I grew up. Jabulani lives with purpose and loves with purpose, and shares his story across diverse cultural lines.

Seven year old Jabulani peeks out of the window of his house. It is made of sunbaked mud bricks. It’s a beautiful sunny day. His house has a bright green door, and a roof that is thatched with long elephant grass.
Jabulani is from the Ndebele people of the Republic of South Africa, who paint the walls of their houses with vibrantly colored patterns. Each bright design has a different meaning, such as joy or love, and sometimes even sadness. It is a way the family can communicate important events to the village.
