What inspires you to write?
Can you imagine Overcoming Painful Life Circumstances and Learning to Forgive Your Past?
Can you visualize a Lasting Faith that Heals with Love and Peace of Mind as a Way of Life?
Those essential discoveries inspired William L. Ingram to write about the life changing events, and life saving principles that gave him victory over his youthful course of self-destruction. The spellbinding odyssey he recounts occurred during the turbulent racial and political storms in 1960's America.
What authors do you read when you aren’t writing?
My favorite authors have changed over the years. The authors that I read and then re-read give me the most joy. C.S.Lewis, Eric Butterworth, Roy Masters, Guy Finley, Emmet Fox, Dinesh D'Souza, Ben Carson
Tell us about your writing process.
I wrote my memoir from memory and notes I had written over the years when I considered writing my story. I took one writing seminar and got a valuable tip to avoid re-writing a manuscript until it is done. I wrote in the mornings and set my chapters aside for a while before re-reading and checking for errors.
What advice would you give other writers?
The same advice I treasured from my seminar class.
Avoid doing extensive re-writes of your working manuscript. The danger is that you may never complete your project, become discouraged and quit.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I knew early on that if I was going to stay committed to writing a memoir it would be almost impossible to find a publisher to even read my manuscript. I did my homework about self-publishing and chose a company. I was very pleased with the production but after 3 years my happy ending turned sour when the publisher suddenly left all their clients in limbo as they went out of business.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think that the future of book publishing is bright. With the digital advances of printing combined with the growing hunger for e-books, print books, and audio books the industry will continue to grow.
What genres do you write?: Memoir and Non-fiction
What formats are your books in?: Both eBook and Print, Audiobook
