About Wesley Lowe:
Wesley Lowe’s first book is a fantasy novel entitled: "The Griffin's Gauntlet.” After numerous rejections from mainstream publishing houses, his work was picked up by Helm Publishing, a small independent publisher. Now he independently publishes his own books.
He has recently completed a six book fantasy series entitled: “The Necromancer Wars,” which features witches as persecuted heroes rather than of wicked villains.
What inspires you to write?
Books, movies, and music. All three have presented wonderful stories in the fantasy fiction genre that inspired me to write fantastical tales of my own.
What authors do you read when you aren’t writing?
My favorite authors are JRR Tolkien (of course), Terry Broods, and George RR Martin. All three have inspired me to write the same type of fantastic tales that they have.
Tell us about your writing process.
I am not an outliner. Tried it. Didn't work for me. I write better when I am in front of my laptop with a cool beverage, uplifting music playing on my mobile phone, and a rampant imagination ready to be set free.
I try to write at least one page a day. That guarantees steady progress.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I neither listen nor talk to my characters. I expect them to do exactly what I tell them to do. And on the frequent occasions when they do not, they are severely punished!
What advice would you give other writers?
Write at least a page a day. And let your imagination run wild!
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I had attempted the traditional publishing route, leading to a mountain of rejections. I had no luck obtaining an agent either. I threw in with an independent publisher, from which I had learned the ropes, and harsh realities, of the publishing industry. When it closed shop after a dozen years, I became an independent publisher of my own works, and I never looked back.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
Hardcopy books will always be available, but as electronic versions become more prevalent, as they already are, they will be fewer and fewer in number.
What genres do you write?: Fantasy Fiction.
What formats are your books in?: Both eBook and Print, Audiobook
