What inspires you to write?
Children not being told the truth about history and diversity. As such, and at 81 years of age, I developed a unique character, LeoApe, that's part lion and part ape. LeoApe is on a mission to inform, inspire, and elevate the conversation of inclusiveness through a children's book series of stories that teach children the importance of diversity & inclusion, promote empathy & understanding, and inspire children to be change makers.
What authors do you read when you aren’t writing?
My favorite author is the late Napoleon Hill. Currently I don't have a favorite author. However, I favor entrepreneurship and self help books.
Tell us about your writing process.
I am creative so when I have a thought, experience, or see or read a current event, I just write whatever comes to mind and revise and clean up later. I think of the message I want to convey first. Then I begin to write.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I imagine what I would do in a specific situation then transpose that into my characters.
What advice would you give other writers?
Don't be afraid to write what may be unpopular as long as it's factual.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I decided to self publish because Amazon KDP makes it easy for new writers to enter the commerce space. And, there are tons of resources available that are free or inexpensive.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
