About Tsipi Sharoor:
I published my first book at the age of 20, with the influence of a well known poet who read a few of my poems. My writing is a mixture of imagination and reality, merging of biographical events and fiction. This mix is the best of the genres in my opinion. It can teach the reader about the person behind the book and also to leverage and elevate the reader to the realms of imagination. The best invention is the reality at its best, in my opinion.
What inspires you to write?
People, love stories, pain, sorrow, excitement, and creation.
Tell us about your writing process.
My writing starts with a thought. Going deep into my heart. A physical and mental procedure that lits me, excites me and causes me to sit by the keyboard for many hours of the day. I manage to work with both methods, I also prepare an outline, but leave a wide room for spontaneity and to coincidence.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I make a conversation with my heroes, listen to them, hear them. During the work, they are an integral part of my life. Sometimes, when I walk in the street they walk beside me to follow me, during the period of writing.
What advice would you give other writers?
To be true to themselves and their writing. To create their own style, so a sophisticated reader can identify their finger-print right away.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I mostly consultate with my publisher and close or relative people.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
For the sake of preserving nature, I believe in digital publishing. The world is obviously and absolutely going there. Nevertheless, I’ve still a bit nostalgic when it comes to a paper book. After all, as human we are attracted to the sense of touch, to aromas, to memories – so probably, there is no substitute for paper.
