About Tierra Montgomery:
My name is Tierra Montgomery and I am currently a college student at Middle Georgia State University studying Information Technology.
What inspires you to write?
I am inspired to write how to get out of situations I have gone through. My characters normally become more productive in handling the same situation than I have in real life.
Tell us about your writing process.
I just started implementing an outline before I even begin writing. This outline helps in structuring and mapping out scenes. I use Save the Cat! Beat Sheet. I do not create character sketches, but I do pay an illustrator for the book cover. I like visualizing what the book will be about also based on the book cover.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I do not talk with my characters. I interact with my characters by putting them in situations I once gone through and seeing how they figure it out.
What advice would you give other writers?
Create an outline first.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
Self-publishing proved to be fruitful to me. It also gives me time to see the results quickly without there being a long process. Plus, my book idea had gotten rejected from some traditional publications. Explore all of your options and what works best for you.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think book publishing is here to stay. There are many readers who love to get lost in a book and explore a new world. There are also writers who love to create a world others can get lost in.
What genres do you write?: Fiction
What formats are your books in?: Both eBook and Print, Audiobook
