About Sharon Coady:
Sharon is a bestselling romance author who writes sweet, spicy and YA stories with her life experiences woven throughout. She has been married to her husband Ed for 44 years, has 4 daughters and 11 grandchildren. She’s a VA nurse who spent 22 1/2 years following her husband around in his Army career. They spent some time in Alaska and love to ride their Harley when she isn’t working or writing.
What inspires you to write?
I write because my muse is constantly spewing characters and their stories to me, sometimes at times when I have no way to write anything down. This happens a lot when we are on the Harley so I have learned to carry a journal with me! My mother was the person who pushed me the most to share my stories and encouraged me.
Tell us about your writing process.
I’m a pantser! My writing process: I write as the story flows and the characters talk to me so I never know where the story is going to take me until I get to the end. I don’t think I could ever outline or plan, my muse doesn’t work like that.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
Always! They are the ones that have total control over where the story is going. Sometimes when I get to the end I sit back and say Wow! I didn’t see that coming. So I’m just as surprised as my readers where the story goes. A character in one of my stories was only supposed to have a small part but she had other plans! The readers loved her and so did I.
What advice would you give other writers?
Write what you are feeling and never edit as you are writing the story. Let the characters guide you and let their voice be heard.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I decided to publish indie after talking to many authors about their experiences with publishing companies.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think the future of book publishing is wonderful. I write because I have stories to tell and share with others and publishing Indie allows me to do that. I have read some wonderful Indie published books and there are a lot of talented authors out there.
