Shannyn Leah lives in London Ontario, Canada. She comes from an entrepreneurial family, who all have a passion for developing new and exciting business ideas. When she’s not writing romance books, into the early hours of the morning, she’s antiquing with her two favorite people, her momma and her sister.
What inspires you to write?
Life inspires me. Everything around me, going for a walk, hanging out at the beach, hanging out with family, attending events, even the smallest things I tuck away in my head for later because inspiration and new ideas are everywhere. It seems like my mind is always in writing mode and even when I’m not writing I’m still in a story.
Tell us about your writing process.
I outline my story on the second draft. The first draft is unplanned and impulsive while I discover the characters and the story line.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
My characters set the path of their story. I can go in writing one idea and when I’m finished the characters have taken me in a completely different direction…and always for the best!
What advice would you give other writers?
Keep writing and reading.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I’ve been writing books since I was young, but have never sent my work away to publishers. My momma asked me to finish one of my books. When I presented her with the finished product, we published it online. I have been self-publishing since.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I believe independent publishing will continue to increase.
