Author Bio:
I am a biomedical researcher by profession with a passion for writing. I have completed my doctoral studies towards a PhD in biology. I am married to an awesome person and have a beautiful daughter who is a shining light in my life. My mother is from a nursing profession and my father hails from an academic position. My brother is also into medical research with this thesis completion near. I am an animal lover and especially cats. I admire cats and believe they are more close in their behavior with humans (sorry canine loving folks, ha ha ha). I like to read a lot. Books of multiple genre interest me from religion, positive thinking, science to fiction and romance. I love Harlequin books. Aha – Music. I love to play my guitar and love peppy songs as well melodies.
I have a strong interest in theology, positive thinking, philosophy, creative writing and in living a purposeful life, thereby contributing to fellow humans. My personal desire and struggle is to be keen to (and) learn anything that will uplift human life and place us in a better position at handling the challenges that life throws at us. To discuss and write about issues of life, thoughts and mind are some of my passions.
What inspires you to write?
I have always been passionate about books and strongly believe a good book can be a worthy companion. I have received a lot from this world through many thinkers and their writings. and hence I want to contribute something to this world by presenting my thoughts to the world as well in these areas. ‘Positive people’ are the ones that I am most comfortable interacting with. I am sure you who are reading this are a positive person and am glad to have connected with you.
Tell us about your writing process.
I think I am both. Firstly I am a seat of the pants writer who then chooses to weigh the idea carefully before putting it into a tangible form. But I also strongly believe no one can be categorized exclusively into these two categories. There are also many shades in between. I am person who strongly believes in personal experiences as a driving force behind a principle. I learn from others as well as my own life with the variety of experiences that come my way. I love to put my feet into the waters and test it. At the same time I am also a person who believes there are time when you first skillfully plan an endeavor.
My writing style also follows similar lines. Once I am imbibed with an idea or concept that throbs my heart to be put into words, I just dash my thoughts on to my computer with no heed for grammar, punctuation, nothing (you, obviously don’t want to interrupt the flow). Then after the stint, I leave the manuscript and take a break for days. But the raw unprocessed potential thoughts have already been put into words. It is upon this initial base that I start to hone the words and chisel out the needed final form. This can take many rounds and does depend upon the requirement of the content of the book or essay.
What advice would you give other writers?
Congratulations if you have decided to write; that is the first and most important thing for anyone to become a writer. Everything else will fall in place as time flows by. It is also important to never sit and squeeze you brain for matter that can produce stress. Always start typing your raw ideas, characters, concepts etc first without bothering about a holistic script or flow. It is this initial step that would serve as seeds for future growth of your writing. When you are ‘in-the-flow’ keep going with it. Just keep typing and saving. Another day you can look it up and make the necessary changes. Always talk enthusiastic about your working as a writer and be proud of it. A healthy self-esteem will go a long way in your writing. Finally begin your writing by starting to love your future audience. You feelings toward the audience will be reflected in your writing. A passive feeling while writing will not go unknown by the reader. Readers can feel your pulse. Apart from these I think other things are all easily learn-able as your write.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
Oh, the joy of publishing and seeing your book live online or in a bookstore!
Actually the thought of publishing my writings came quite later. Initially I started writing some motivational essays and published them as small posts on the net and then one fine day it occurred to me that I can very well compile all these writings and make it into a book so a reader need not search for all the writings scattered across time and the world wide web. I went on to check for publishing and found some self-publishing industries with packages. But somehow I did not think I should invest my money on it ‘right now’. So I was looking for some way to publish my writings for ‘free’. My search led me to amazon.com. I am glad we have such a service available. There are also many other services available. I chose to Amazon as my choice because I found their deal interesting. Of course someone else might want to choose something else. That is how I ended up publishing two of my books till now.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
Amazing! As long as human the human race is, books will be. And so will be book publishing. People are continuously discovering, learning and inventing that there will be an increase in book publishing in the coming years. The format of books will also be more reader friendly like the e books or audio books. Classical paper prints will always have their charm though.
