What inspires you to write?
Originally, I had to write because the stories in my head demanded to be told! Now that I am published, it’s the readers that inspire me. I love to hear from my readers and I am thrilled to be able to share my work!
I love humor, sexy stories and a touch of snark.
Tell us about your writing process.
I prefer to outline the story before I begin writing, so I know where it will go! I also like knowing the characters. It’s my passion for them and the twists and turns of the plot that fires my imagination.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
LOL They talk to me. Especially if I am not writing fast enough!
What advice would you give other writers?
I like to think of this business as a series of relationships. I advise writers to join writing groups, connect with like minded creators and always be willing to help each other. We are not in this alone!
The same holds true for readers. They are a very vital part of this process! Without them, we are nothing!
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I am what is called a hybrid author. I started with a small digital publisher, then expanded to self publishing (to explore the possibilities and the freedom of owning ALL rights to a book) and have recently sold several series to New York Publishers.
Everyone has a different path. It’s so interesting to watch the journey unfold.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
The future will be defined by the market (i.e.: The readers). Digital books are here to stay. Authors and publishers make more money on them than print books, so we may see fewer and fewer print books being produced (which makes me sad because I love to sniff books!!!)
Box sets have been huge in the past (and I have had great success with some of these collections) but I see sales on these slumping. And considering the fact that authors don’t make any money on these (they are almost exclusively used for cross promotion), I see less of these being produced.
