S. K. Anthony is a writer, a reader and a make-stuff-up-er who lives in New York with her husband and toddler twins. She is a wine connoisseur, which just really means she knows she loves it, and a caffeine addict. When she isn’t busy with her family she finds herself being transported into the world of imagination. Well, either that or running away from spiders…she is convinced they are out to get her!
What inspires you to write?
Other books 😉 I’ve always loved and admired the creativity and imagination that transports me into other worlds and have always wanted to try my hand at writing my own stories.
Tell us about your writing process.
I’m a seat of my pants writer! I usually will write down some general ideas on my novels and go from there. After finishing my first draft, I do a happy dance and I smile. Then I sit and cringe because that’s when the real work starts. I like to revise a lot, so I focus on different aspects each time. It’s a process that works for me and don’t plan on changing it anytime soon 😉
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
Both! I like them to guide me so I listen to them. Sometimes they’re confusing though, so questions must be asked lol
What advice would you give other writers?
To keep going and write a little every day. Even though you’re always learning—at the moment you’re working—give it all you have, and make sure you’re proud of any work that carries your name.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I chose to self-publish simply because I love having the control. We all have to follow our instincts when it comes to which direction to take. I researched all I could about the different publishing options and loved the idea of self-publishing, so I went for it. I’m very serious about my work, so I used all of the professional services necessary to make it something I would be proud of.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
As long as there are books, no matter how its published, I’m happy.
