About Romarin Demetri:
Romarin Demetri is a story crafter who loves black coffee, traveling abroad, and when her characters come home in some sort of trouble she swears she didn’t invent. Pulling from her B.A. in English and Psychology, her debut series, The Supernatural London Underground, is a blend of fantasy ground in reality, and a world a reader can truly escape to. As an eccentric and reader, she still enjoys creating the alternate reality in her urban fantasy series (more than anything!), and her interactive world waits for you at RomarinDemetri.com
What inspires you to write?
In my current book series, inspiration came from Countess Elizabeth Bathory, who was a Hungarian noble and the world’s first female serial killer. I was a Psychology major in college, and the story was very interesting to me. I was watching an episode of Scariest Places on Earth in October one year, and I was inspired by the gruesome legends.
Tell us about your writing process.
As a writer I like to go to the places I write about to be able to write about them vividly. I pay attention to sight, smells, sounds, and anything else that grabs me. I outline the plot before writing a lot more now than I did in my first books (even down to quotes), and I think that is the most effective, or quickest, writing process one can have.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I listen to my characters a lot, but often, I shake my head and talk to them out loud, mostly when they are up to no good.
What advice would you give other writers?
I tell other writers to learn the business, and know the ins and outs and different ways of publishing so that they can be as professional as possible. Research happens years before your first book goes to print. I write a fantasy book series, so i’m hoping to help other fantasy writers by starting a blog series called “Dear Author,” in June, 2016.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I am an independent author who contracts services such as beta reading, cover design, editing, and formatting.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think that we will see more great writers being able to share their ideas, now that independent publishing is an option. I also hope we will see less discrimination towards independent authors by readers and book bloggers.
