About Remi Bond:
Remi Bond loves the spark that brings two (or three or four or more) people together, the love that makes them better human beings, and the drive and work that, despite life’s difficulties, keeps them together.
What inspires you to write?
I love the spark that brings two (or three or four or more) people together. Real love is work but it makes us better human beings. I love to celebrate that with my stories.
Tell us about your writing process.
Character first. Who are these people and why do they rub each other wrong–on the surface, that is 🙂 How are they perfect for each other underneath?
After that, it depends on how light I’m writing, and how sexy. If I’m layering romantic comedy with erotic romance, I’ll write a confrontation scene then a humorous scene then a sex scene.
I write from the heart (read “seat of the pants”, lol), but I revise with tools. Goal, Motivation and Conflict sharpen characters; proper Catalyst/Big Event/Pinch/Crisis/Climax helps create the bones of a plot.
I write the first draft in Scrivener, read through on my ereader, refine my second draft in Scrivener, read through in MS Word’s two-pages reading mode, do my final drafts in MS Word.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I listen to my characters and watch them as if they’re standing beside me. Sometimes I’ll rewind what’s happened in my head and bump them toward a different decision then watch what happens.
What advice would you give other writers?
Enjoy it when things don’t come out like you expect. Many of the most creative successes have come from “whoops”.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I have a friend who is a huge advocate for indie publishing. She makes finding new information and trying new things fun. I have two other friends who do the most beautiful covers. I almost had to indie pub so I could choose their amazing artwork, lol.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
Competition is huge, but nothing touches mind-to-mind and heart-to-heart like books.
