About Rachel Griffin:
Hometown: Cleveland, OH
Occupation: Founder/Owner/CEO of Pen & Camera
My writing journey began at age thirteen when I wrote my first poem. Finally deciding to start story writing in high school, I took writing as a whole seriously enough to make it a career. There were plenty of moments where I doubted myself. Mostly during the early stages of my first book release. After seeing what I could do after regaining some determination and motivation, Iām glad I made the choice to keep going.
What inspires you to write?
Our future generations and continued healing (mentally, spiritually and emotionally) inspire me to write.
What authors do you read when you aren’t writing?
Maya Angelou
Tell us about your writing process.
For the first two months or so, I'll write a bunch of notes and reorganize them multiple times until I feel they're in the best order. Then I begin spending a few weeks coming up with book and chapter titles, names for characters (if any) and eventually create and choose my own covers. The writing, proofreading and rewriting time changes depending on what and how much I write. But it usually takes me at least almost a year to complete a book. Once I'm at a point where I write longer books, it'll definitely rake longer than a year or so to complete.
What advice would you give other writers?
Write your material as though you're the audience reading it for the first time. Don't always look at it from your point of view. There might be something else you don't see because of your angle of choice.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I chose the best option that worked for me during those moments. I didn't want to take a path I knew I would regret later.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I feel majority of them will become digital like almost everything else. Many people rather have digital copies of thing nowadays.
What genres do you write?: fiction, fantasy, sci-fi, poetry
What formats are your books in?: Print
