About Phoenix:
We are PHOENIX, co-writers Lee and Gary Jordan, speculative fiction with a light touch.
Our Muse has begged us to break the shackles of genre and let our imaginations run FREE, to write entertaining stories that let readers escape into unique places.
So our tales defy strict category and may contain a mix of genre, such as fantasy, romance, science fiction, action and adventure, mystery and even some occult. Most of them take place in our real world but bend reality.
Why? Because normal reality is boring.
So we have rebelled. We have been told that authors who do not fit into pigeon holes are hard to find on the virtual book shelf. But you found us, and we hope you join our fans.
We live in Hollywood, but we don't spend much time in the wonderful California sunshine. Instead we are maniacs who sit in front of our computer screens, weaving tales we hope you will enjoy.
What inspires you to write?
Being immersed in the process of creating a world and putting characters into that world – there is nothing like it.
Tell us about your writing process.
We are outliners, and then from there go by the seat of our pants, letting the muse take over. We know the basic content for each chapter, each of us takes one, writes it, and then we trade for the other's input, changes, ideas or even re-writing. Works out great.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
Dialog for characters is kind of like method acting. You become the character, feel what they would feel and write how that would sound. Sometimes that ends up with crying while we write. LOL
What advice would you give other writers?
Just put your fingers on the keys. There is no such thing as writer's block. Sit down and write (it may be junk), but then the Muse takes over. That never ceases to amaze me.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I have a relative who is a best selling author, both the NYT bestseller lists and internationally. She was rejected by agents over and over. One even said her book would never sell. She put it on Amazon and B&N and it took off like a rocket. So what does that tell you?
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
Everyone and his/her uncle is writing a book. However, writing a book is like digging a mountain with a spoon. Not easy. Takes fortitude. However, completing a novel – the greatest feeling in the world.
What genres do you write?: Speculative fiction, with many different themes
What formats are your books in?: Both eBook and Print
