About Pamela Daniell:
I live in Riverhead, N.Y. with my husband and five kids. I’ve always enjoyed writing and use it as my escape when the real world gets hectic. As a child some of my favorite books were The Nancy Drew Mysteries and The V.C. Andrews series. I still enjoy reading today when I get the time but most of my time is spent writing my books.
At the moment I have one book published ‘Revelations’. The second book in the series ‘Defiance’ will be out early 2016.
What inspires you to write?
The people who read my books inspire me the most. When I get discouraged I read some of the great reviews I’ve gotten and it pushes me to keep writing.
Tell us about your writing process.
I start with an outline, and try to keep to that. You notice I said try, that’s because my characters often yell at me and tell me what they want to do instead of following my outline. So that outline often gets changed as my characters grow.
I’m using scrivener as my writing software. It’s great for when I need to upload it to be published. With a touch of a few buttons I can save the file anyway I want, whether it be for Ebook, or Pdf etc. I would highly recommend this software to any writer.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I have no choice but to listen to my characters because they’ll yell at me until I do. If I try to take the story in a direction their character would never go, they’ll make sure I know it.
What advice would you give other writers?
Keep on writing. Not everyone will like your writing, but for everyone who doesn’t there are two more who will. So write for them and try to forget about those who don’t
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I went the traditional route and was published via a publisher for my first book. I didn’t care for how I had to get permission if I wanted to do things with the book, so when my contract was up I republished via Amazon CreateSpace and have to say I’m much happier. I have full control over my story and how it is written.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think more people will be self-publishing via Kindle. 90% of my sales are through kindle and I forsee that being the future of publishing.
What genres do you write?: Fiction, Young Adult
What formats are your books in?: Both eBook and Print
