About P.S. Winn:
All I want to do is write, I love books. I have written 22 in 2 years. I write all the books longhand and now have notebooks everywhere, I write novels and also kids books because teaching kids to read and giving them a love of books is a special gift. I love my readers whose vivid imaginations add the finishes touches on all the books I write. I am also a reader and reviewer. started a year ago and have 650 done on Amazon.
What inspires you to write?
Everything, oh my gosh I just can’t stop. Looking at an ordinary object, the wheels begin turning and a story unfolds. The kids books are inspired by my kids and grandkids. 7 kids and 18 grandkids with many suggestions gets the work done and the books wrote.
Tell us about your writing process.
I don’t know how much of a process I have. I write longhand and the words just flow when pen touches paper. I do write down a sort of outline, mostly what my characters look and act like and go from there.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
My characters talk to me and then they take over the story. In my book tunnels, they took over and wouldn’t stop. It ended up being over 600 pages because of it.
What advice would you give other writers?
If you want to write and love the stories then you should. If it is about money, you shouldn’t. For me the best thing is not the amount of readers, but the few that give reviews that touch my heart. I have been so lucky and only received 4 and 5 star reviews so far on Amazon. When a reader shares a touching story because of a book you have written, well, it doesn’t get any better than that!
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I self published, just because I am impatient and didn’t want to wait for a publisher to get back to me. Now my 22nd will be out soon and I am happy being an indie, although promoting is a whole new ball game. it is harder, you feel like you are pushy and bothering people. But most people have been so awesome, I can’t complain.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I hope there will be more options and opportunities for indie authors. I think many more people will go this way. So much more freedom telling stories the way you want, setting your price and feeling the accomplishment of making your own novel is an amazing and satisfying experience.
