About Noam Josephides:
Noam Josephides is an award-winning and bestselling author, screenwriter and director.
He is also a serial technology entrepreneur with numerous successful companies founded, and a past as an Airforce Captain.
Noam's love for speculative writing and Science Fiction began with the genre classics he read in his childhood – from Asimov and Heinlin to Clarke and Douglas Adams.
His scientific enthusiasm for space led him to pursue studies in Astrophysics and aviation, and his prose combines deep technological and scientific knowledge with a unique focus on human drama, values and personal journeys.
Noam spends his time between leading Artificial Intelligence product development at the world's top technology firms, and writing novels, screenplays and fake Tooth-Fairy letters for his 3 young kids.
What inspires you to write?
Writing has been part of my life ever since I tried to start my great adventure novel at 9 years old. That project ended after 8 pencil-scrribbled pages, but I didn't give up!
What authors do you read when you aren’t writing?
My all-time favorite book is Shibumi, written by the mysterious thriller writer Trevanian.
My Scifi genre master would be Heinlin, and especially "Time Enough for Love"
Tell us about your writing process.
I am a slow writer. Maybe because I HATE editing, so I make sure every sentence is as close to the final puzzle piece as possible before committing to it 🙂
I can, however, write everywhere. Car passenger seats. Coffee shops. Airport terminals. wherever. I slap on my noise-cancelling headphones, switch on an ambient music playlist, and I 'm good to go!
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
As a screenwriter by trade and education – I do envision each character in detail, including their speaking style, glitches and intentions.
Maybe this is why people always tell me they'd imagine my works on the screen really easily.
What advice would you give other writers?
If, as you are grinding in front of your screen writing, you find yourself laughing, irritated, amazed and sad with your characters – you've already won. Make sure this harsh occupation is fulfilling for YOU first!
How did you decide how to publish your books?
For me, having 20+ years of experience in media and marketing, the publishing and marketing side of the trade is not intimidating and so I had the luxury of plotting my own plan to market.
My main consideration was getting "Generations" read by as many people as possible. My goal was to get the story out. So all my decisions stemmed from this original goal.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
There will always be a need for professional curation. In a world of an exponentially increasing number of works published (not only literary works, also movies, podcasts, songs etc.) – you will always need someone to guide you to what's good, new, hot and worth your time.
It used to be book publishers, music labels, hollywood studios. But more and more such "trusted parties" are emerging from the ground up – youtube, twitter, tiktok, instagram, blogs etc.
What genres do you write?: Science Fiction
What formats are your books in?: Both eBook and Print
