About Michelle Louise:
Michelle Louise is the name used for two friends who share an obsession in reading. Both had a dream of writing, and together they planned and plotted to accomplish their goals. The experience they shared while creating Picking up the Pieces solidified their new obsession with writing.
What inspires you to write?
We receive inspiration from everything around us. Sometimes it will come from things in our past. Just recently we were having lunch when an idea struck that developed into our next book. Since, you never know when inspiration will hit, we are known for keeping small notebooks handy or even taking notes in our phone.
Tell us about your writing process.
We tend to be more of outliners. Sitting down with paper and pencil we plan out the theory and then break it down chapter by chapter. Our characters are planned out from the beginning usually with pictures. Even with a well planned outline, you never know when the story may change direction during writing.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
All the time. 🙂 We have had lengthy discussions/debates on what a certain character will say or do. You have to get inside their heads to get a good feel for them.
What advice would you give other writers?
If it is something you enjoy doing, then never stop.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
We decided on self-publishing so they could maintain control over our work. Promoting when you are a self-published author becomes a full-time job, but in the end it is worth it.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
Right now, I fell that indie-authors have become popular, that I wouldn’t be surprised to see more self-publishing in the future.
