Author Bio:
A doctor by day and game designer (and writer) by night, Magus Tor hopes to be able to turn the tables and become a game designer by day and doctor by night! Magus Tor enjoys writing because it is fun putting the fantasy he has in his crazy mind into words others can read and share. Currently, he is still working as a medical doctor, but hopefully in the future he can work full-time as a game designer with practicing medicine as a hobby.
What inspires you to write?
Anything and everything. Sometimes it’s a dream I had, a drama or anime that I watched. I writes for fun and doesn’t have a particular genre for me to write it. My first book New Dawn, a scifi adventure was written after I read one of the Star Wars novel. My second book, D-Nine: Protectors of the Crown was a fantasy story written to accompany a card game (Dragon Nine Playing Cards) I am designing then.
Tell us about your writing process.
I am sort of a random person, sometimes I will write with an outline, sometimes I don’t, depending on the mood and where I have gotten the idea from.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I don’t really listen or talk to them but I will pretend to be the main characters of my story and look at the situation from their point of view.
What advice would you give other writers?
Write whatever you enjoy writing. The sky is the limit.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
Hmmm, when I first started out writting, it was the beginning of self publishing and I was happy to jump onto the bandwagon. I never thought that I will write at all. So when I first completed the manuscript, the only thought in my mind then was that I want to have a copy in my own hands. That’s about it. It was also the reason why I am inactive from 2008 (publishing of my first book) to 2011 (second book).
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
With the ease of self publishing, we will see a lot of good books coming out. But it is for the same reason we will have a lot of junks too. The problem will be how to sieve out the good from the bad.
