Author Bio:
Madi Preda is a freelance publicist, who started doing promotion for books and writers when her husband published his two novels. She created publicity campaigns for many writers, traditional or self published, publicizing more than 50 books within a year of launching her first campaign. Her mission is helping authors to gain more exposure and media coverage through her online marketing campaigns. As a result of her experience she decided to write a practical guide for authors, or aspiring writers, in marketing, explaining step by step how to make a book successful from the manuscript stage to wholesale distribution.
What inspires you to write?
Obvious books;doing promotion for books I thought that by sharing my experience as a publicist I can help and motivate authors to start doing it for themselves.Looking at charges for promotional services it gives me headache so my book gives a few ideas about doing it for not money at all or for very little.
Tell us about your writing process.
I honestly think that I am a not very well organized writer. While I wrote How To Promote and Market Your book I have been jumping from manuscript to book cover, from writing to pre – pub promotion, and from research to design promotional materials , without any order or plan.
What advice would you give other writers?
Not just a writer but as a publicist I want them all to understand how important is to do their own promotion, even the publisher does a bit or they employed someone else to do it.When the author does it, the transmitted message is much stronger, the author knows the story the best and share his/her emotions directly with the targeted audience.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I decided to publish my book with Smashwords because the variety of formatting they have and the advantage of their pre-order campaign.
Another good one I considered is Ingram Spark or Create Space.
This is about self publishing;talking about publishing with a publisher is another matter and every writer’s dream.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think that self publishing gain more and more popularity over the last years and it seems to me that more and more authors choose that path not necessary because they couldn’t find a publisher but because they want to be more in control of their books.
What genres do you write?
Non fiction, how to, business
What formats are your books in?
eBook
