What inspires you to write?
I have always loved reading from a young age and still remember some of my favorite childhood books. How great would it be to write something that could make an impact on a child or at least put a smile on their face!
Tell us about your writing process.
Sometimes a wonderful idea comes to me while I’m walking my dog or in the shower. As soon as I can, I write it down and let it take me someplace. In these situations, the book often happens really fast. Counting Safari: 1 to 10 happened that way. I was walking my dog and the line “Three little lions all in a row, Till one saw a gazelle and off they go” popped into my head. Other times, I have a general idea but have to work to develop my thoughts. I may end up doing some research or writing notes in a notebook. I have a notebook full of ideas.
What advice would you give other writers?
Don’t let fear stop you from trying.
