What inspires you to write?
I write because I have a passion to create a respectable work which will be of some use to the present and future generation. I have a desire to communicate through writing and a desire to work something. Writing is the thing I do best. I am also hugely inspired by a few lady authors of my Karnataka state. I had a dream to become a writer like them and I started writing just for passion, but my work got recognition as they were published in different blogs. I also got good reviews from my readers, especially the students. I started content writing and writing articles for different blogs. Now, I have written six nonfiction and one fiction book. They are sold worldwide in sixteen different online and offline stores.
Tell us about your writing process.
First, I start mapping ideas like how to begin the story, whether to convey messages or not and how to end my story. I plot my story characters and bring life to them. I always make an outline and then type it in the Microsoft word process. I edit it and revise it many times. I re-draft my work many times before submitting. Re-drafting involves filling and adding. If you want to be a writer, you should practice writing faithfully and dedicate time for writing.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
Yes, I do listen and talk with my story, characters and imagine them as if they are real people.
What advice would you give other writers?
You can express your untold imaginations by telling a story and you can also convey a message. It is completely your world. Explore and investigate what to write. Set a goal for writing and try to reach it. If you want to be a writer, you should read a lot and write a lot. Read, read, read, write, write, write, rewrite, rewrite and rewrite. Write it even if it is not perfect. Make a draft and edit all the new ideas that trigger in your mind. Go on adding to your story with more twists or jokes. Always keep a notepad with you to write down new ideas. You should enjoy your work. This needs discipline, sincerity and hard work just like any other full time job. Don’t give up even if your work is rejected.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I have self published some books and a few books, I have published with a publisher.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
Not anytime soon as everything is now becoming digital. But, personally I prefer physical copies over digital. So hoping that digital copies will not replace the physical ones. Nothing beats the crisp feel of an actual paperback with fresh print smell in it.
