About Kay Simpson:
Kay Simpson is the mother of one hyperactive toddler first and foremost. She lives in the rural south, miles away from any busy cities. Writing has always been her passion, ever since she was twelve years old and bored in her math class and didn’t have a book to read so she decided to write her own.
Kay greatly enjoys stories that are heavy on character development and growth. Her stories are know to test her characters as she places them in difficult situations. Her books are not big on romance, but the likelihood of some form of it being in her books are high.
Kay Simpson is simply an ordinary Indie writer who wishes for nothing else but for her books to do well. She loves to write and share her stories with others.
What inspires you to write?
Life inspires me. Human struggle, compassion, and change, greatly inspire me to write. I love to sit and watch people interact with one another and ask questions about how people view themselves. Nature also inspires me, how everything seems to flow with reason in nature I feel sort of is reflected in what I write.
Tell us about your writing process.
I’m both an outliner and a seat of the pants writer. If I do not have a basic outline I will be all over the place mentally with so many ideas and I wouldn’t be able to get anything done. But I greatly just write from the gut, what I feel and how I think my characters would feel in a certain situation.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
That’s funny because I without a doubt have conversations with my characters, especially my main characters. I say what they would say a loud in a way in which they would say it to make certain that I’m keeping them in character and true to themselves.
What advice would you give other writers?
Pace yourself. I’ve noticed if I rush something about what I’m writing will suffer and everything will feel wrong and contrived in a way I simply hate.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I wanted to share my ideas and I want to grow as a writer.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think the future of book publishing is bright and long.
