About kay gardner:
Kay Gardner is a poet all the time, sometimes to the dismay of those around her who will become the object of the vacant stare of a poem clamoring to be written. She has an ongoing poetry series at Channillo and is working on an illustrated poetry collection, as well as continuing to write haiku and micropoetry.
She's in love with words, her cats, really good coffee, and is a sucker for a well-crafted line. She's also a bit of a grammar nazi, which serves her well in proofreading others' works.
What inspires you to write?
the world around me inspires. there is poetry in everything – nature, people, animals, disasters, everything.
Tell us about your writing process.
i don't outline my poetry. i write lines. sometimes just a word. most of the time, the entire poem just pours out onto the page, though there have been times the last couple of lines have been stubborn.
What advice would you give other writers?
read! read everything you can. and don't give up.. you're writing for yourself, so who cares about that bad review? keep writing.. somebody, somewhere, needs to read what you say.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
poetry is an extraordinarily difficult market, so i went with self-publishing. it's given me control of what and when i publish. plus, the indie community is amazing.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
i think the trend is more to self-publishing, given the ease of it.
What genres do you write?: poetry
What formats are your books in?: Both eBook and Print, Audiobook
