About Katherine Womack:
I’m Indie Author, Katherine Womack. When I’m not writing, I’m a Foster/Adoptive Mom and Advocate for children and animals. Over the past 10 years, I have fostered 50 children aged 0-18. Their stories have inspired me, changing my life for the better. Philanthropy and Literature are an integral part of my legacy. My goal is to defeat illiteracy in foster youth, by publishing relevant content that every child entering my home, will embrace and share. For those of you who are interested in my work, I hope that you’ll check-out my latest venture, The Madame Adele Trilogy. It’s thought provoking, interesting and most importantly, it initiates a conversation about our country’s outdated sex trade and Human Sex Trafficking laws.
What inspires you to write?
I’ve been writing since I was 11. It was always a hobby. Today, at 43, I enjoy writing about the things that I can’t change. I live vicariously through my stories.
Tell us about your writing process.
I am a “Seat of the Pants” writer. have NEVER been a planner–I’ve tried. I’m spontaneous. Things always seem to turn out better when they’re improved and organic. I’ll think of a topic, or look through royalty free images (for inspiration), and just start writing.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I listen to my characters. They’ll nag me if I don’t. When they all speak at once, I’ll open an additional word doc to take notes so that I won’t forget what I’m feeling.
What advice would you give other writers?
Keep writing–don’t ever stop. You may never have a bestseller, but you’ll always be a published author. Not very many people can say that.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I’ve had an Amazon account for several years now, and I’ve contemplated self publishing. Writing has always been a hobby. One day, I thought “Why write, if I’m not planning to share my work.” When you’re a parent, there is very little time for hobbies. If I find time to write, I want to share it.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I’m very grateful for this opportunity ( self publishing, the ability to self promote, etc). I’m feeling extremely optimistic about the future of book publishing. There are so many stories to be told, hearts to touch, and lives to save. Literature truly makes the world a happy place.
What genres do you write?: Fiction, Non-Fiction
